A Shiny Little Poncho

Spring has sprung once again.  Yards are full of technicolor candies and egg stashing bunnies.  It's wonderfully normal and insane all at the same time.

This time I dug into my yarn stash to see if I might have a decent amount of any one type of yarn to start a project to give a little protection from the chill after a warm day.  Thankfully I found a decent stock of lime green yarn hiding in the midst of a re-purposed laundry basket.  This bunch was given to me by an awesome relative that gives away bags full of yarn from time to time.  I count myself very lucky to have such great relations.

This yarn is called Kara and is made by Austermann.  It has a beautiful shine to it and feels soft and smooth against the skin.  On the downside, it likes to snag.  It seems to be a fiber core with a woven sheath around it.  This sheath is strong and will catch on any little rough spot on your hand.  As I was looking up this yarn online I found that it is discontinued, so this may not end up being a problem for you.

With spring in the wings and summer coming up fast, I decided that it was time for a little layer that wouldn't get in the way and could be thrown over a tank top, bathing suit, or dress.  This is what came about.  The texture reminds me of unplied yarn, while the fabric shines and waves like leaves on the tree.  I hope you enjoy it too.

If you would like a pdf of this pattern and have a Ravelry account, a copy can be found here.

If you would prefer a pdf download from Etsy, it can be found here.

Feel free to change the yarn, gauge, or size to fit your needs.  Just please do not try to sell this pattern as your own.

If you have any problems that you think that I might be able to help you with, email me at GridMammalCrafts@gmail.com .
