Cooler knitting for cooler nights

The last vestiges of the summer heat are still holding on, but school has started, the leaves are beginning to change and autumn is on its way.  In my world this means  a little extra spice in the air and the possibility of a nip in the air.

As with most of my projects, the ones I have to show today started with me digging through my yarn stash to see what could be found.  To my delight I found a ball of Blue Moon Fiber Arts' BFL Sport in their Chestnutty color.  I could not tell you how long this ball had been in my yarn basket, but I fell for it again.  Blue Moon provided a great depth of color and the yarn felt soft and strong.  As an added bonus, this particular ball was 661 yard / 604.4 meter long.

The length of this yarn was impressive.  I started on a cowl to while away the time work on a cable motif, but there proved to be just too much yarn for it.  So I played with the cable idea a bit and a short button-up scarf was born out of the same ball.  Surprises like this are always welcome.

From my home to yours, here are a couple little numbers to help keep the chill out.

Feel free to change the yarn, the gauge, or the size.  Just please don't try to sell the patterns as your own.

If you have any questions about the pattern, please email me at GridMammalCrafts@gmail.com and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Also, if you would like a pdf version of this pattern, and have a Ravelry account, it can be found here.
